The Castello Sforzesco , in the downtown area of Milan in Italy, was built at the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, duke of Milan, on the ruins of a preceding fortification like defense against Venice.
The castle of Sforza was restored after being damaged by a bomb in 1943. It is one of the most famous monuments of Milan. It comprised military hutments, stables, and a reserve which was used as workshop with Léonard de Vinci. Old residence of the dukes of Milan, the castle shelters the Musei civici today , of which the museum of the musical instruments, the museum of the sculpture and the art gallery.
