Castanopsis cuspidata

Castanopsis cuspidata is a species of Castanopsis originating in the South of Japan and South of Korea.

It is a tree sempervirent of intermediate size from 20 to 30 top, near to the beech and the oak. The sheets measure 5 to 9 cm in length and 2 to 4 cm of width and are coriaces in toothed texture with an edge. It pushes in the forest and the ravines, particularly close to the sea.

Its deadwood is used as support with many mushroom species, including the éponyme Shiitaké.
