Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt

Caspar Georg Carl Reinwardt is a Naturaliste Dutch, born in 1773 and died in 1854.

It obtains its doctorate with the Université of Harderwijk in 1801. It collects botanical specimens with Java and in the Asian colonies Dutchwomen. The name of Reinwardt is associated the May 18th 1817 with the foundation with the Botanical garden with Buitenzorg, of an initial surface of 47 hectares and in which one cultivates 900 S different. It directs the institution until in 1822. He teaches the Biologie, the Géologie, the Natural history and the Chimie with the Université of Leyde of 1823 with 1845. He directs the botanical museum of Harderwijk.

The Reinwardtoena of the Columbidae was dedicated to him by Charles Lucien Bonaparte (1803-1857) in 1854.
