Casino of Paris
The Casino of Paris is a theater and of concert of the XVIIIe century, located at the 16 Rue of Clichy in the 9th district of Paris
History
Towards 1730, under Louis XV, the duke of Richelieu is made build a place where it can organize spectacles of his choice in a planted vast campaign of trees. In 1779, the baron d' Ogny buys the place, which it renames Madness-Richelieu. It is directed by Fortunée Hamelin, an young woman very for any Paris society man under the First Empire.
Into 1811, the Madness-Richelieu is transformed into amusement park, then demolished in 1851 to build there current the Église of the Holy Trinity of Paris. The Baron Haussmann makes it demolish in its turn to rebuild it low and to replace it by a hall of leisures with inter alia large a popular Patinoire.
In 1880, part of the skating rink becomes the De luxe hotel Theater, which is a great success. It has a vast hall style Rococo, covered with canopies, a score of columns which support statues of winged and naked women with each one a gloss in the right hand, the whole in a luxuriance of exotic plants.
In 1914, the room is repurchased by Raphaël Beretta, which transforms it into room of Cinéma and Music-hall. The first Re-examined with place in 1917. It has as a high-speed motorboat Gaby Desly, the first star of the music hall. In 1918, the bombardments involve the closing of the establishment.
After war, the room opens its doors with Mistinguett and Maurice Chevalier and connects with twenty-four reviews with success. The room is devastated by a fire in 1922, then entirely rebuilt and modernized with a glazed swimming pool containing a hundred and thousand liters of water, equipped with a mechanism to make it go up on the scene. In 1925, Mistinguett joined the Moulin-Rouge and Maurice Chevalier returns in 1926 like single high-speed motorboat of the spectacle.
In 1930, Joséphine Baker, called “black Venus” is a success fulgurating as driving of review for thirteen months when she is crowned “queen of the Variety”.
In spring 1940, during the Second world war, the Germans make close the Casino of Paris, then make it reopen to see Maurice Chevalier and Mistinguett there.
In 1959 Line Renaud makes his beginnings with the Casino of Paris as driving of review with more than one hundred people on scene.
In 1970, it is Zizi Jeanmaire which becomes the star of the review of the choreographer Roland Petit, until in 1973, where Lisette Malidor takes again the high-speed motorboat to him.
Jean Bauchet, the former director of the Moulin-Rouge, repurchases the room with Line Renaud and her husband Louis Gasté and develops a review with Line in the high-speed motorboat. January 5th 1980, following financial problems, the Casino closes its doors, then reopens in 1982. The Music-hall does not have enough any more of success to be profitable. The Casino of Paris then becomes a theater of any nature, jazz, rock'n'roll, classical music, ballets, operas, concerts.
