Casimir IV of Poméranie

Casimir IV of Poméranie (in Polish Kazimierz IV ), known also under the name of Kazko de Slupsk (in Polish Kaźko Słupski ), was born in 1351 and is deceased the January 2nd 1377 with Bydgoszcz. He is duke of Poméranie (Duchy of Słupsk) of 1374 with 1377.

Casimir IV is the oldest son of Boguslaw V of Poméranie and Elisabeth of Poland, the girl of Casimir III Large the. He is the half-brother of Warcislaw VII, Boguslaw VIII and Barnim V of Poméranie.

After the death of his/her mother in 1361, Casimir IV is high with Cracow, at the court of king de Pologne. In 1368, it is adopted by Casimir III the Large one who wants to undoubtedly make his successor of it on the throne of Poland, in spite of an agreement of succession which had been concluded with Louis I {{er}} from Hungary in 1355. In 1370, in spite of the support of the nobility of Large Poland, it must give up the crown of Poland with the profit of Louis of Hungary. Casimir IV declares Vassal new king and kingdom of Poland in exchange of the areas of Dobrzyń, Bydgoszcz, Kruszwica, Wałcz and Złotów which becomes its Fief S. In 1376, Casimir IV, which had gone in reinforcement of Polish troops besieging Ladislas the White to Złotoria, close to Toruń, is seriously wounded. He dies a few days later. He is buried in the monastery Cistercien of Byszew.

Casimir IV married twice. In 1360, it married Joanne (Kenna) († April 28th 1368), the girl of the Lithuanian duke Olgierd. In 1369, it married Marguerite, the girl of Siemovit III of Mazovie. Casimir IV was suspected of having killed his first wife. For expier his fault, it was made castrate a few years before its death.
