Casimir IV Jagellon or Casimir Jagiellonian (Polish Kazimierz Jagiellonczyk ) (Lithuanian Kazimieras Jogailaitis ) (November 30th 1427 - June 7th 1492) was Large-duke of Lithuania of 1440 with 1492 and king of Poland of 1447 with 1492.
It had a tough foreign politics to preserve the political union of the Lithuania and Poland. It tried to cover the territories lost with old Poland. Its great victory was to subject the teutonic knights.
Second wire of Ladislas II Jagellon and its fourth wife Zofja Holszanska. His/her father is 75 years old with his birth and his/her brother Ladislas is future king de Pologne.

1434 Ladislas goes up on the throne and Casimir becomes the heir to the crown. In spite of that, its education was very neglected.

1440 the assassination of the large duke of Lithuania Sigismond Ier Kęstutaitis propels it large duke by a coup d'etat of the noble Lithuanians who obviously thought of being able to handle it.

1444 Whereas the risk of disunion is great, Ladislas dies in the Bataille of Varna the November 10th.

1447 it is crowned king de Pologne after a 3 years interregnum.

1454 the February 10th with Cracow: Marriage with Elisabeth de Habsbourg for purely political reasons: To take the Bohemia and the Hungary. This marriage was particularly happy since six boys and seven girls followed one another. Elisabeth was called the mother of the kings: four of its sons will be it indeed.

1466 the October 19th Peace of Toruń at the request of the Teutonique Order exhausted by the war. Poméranie of Gdansk (royal Prussia) is attached to Poland. The territories left with the Order become strongholds of the Polish crown.
