Casimir III Piast , known as Large the , born the April 30th 1309, dead the November 5th 1370, king de Pologne of 1333 with 1370, wire of Ladislas Ier the Brief, king de Pologne, and of Hedwige de Kalisz.

Biography

It demolished the king of Bohemia and conquered part of the Russia. In 1343, he concludes the Traité from Kalisz with the teutonic Ordre. He reformed the Polish legislation, founded hospitals, colleges, created the Cracovian Academy (become the Université Jagellonne under Ladislas II Jagellon) in 1364, and granted to the Juif S privileges: it is with the prayer of Jewish named Esther, that he liked, that was made this concession. In 1368, it adopted its nephew Casimir IV of Poméranie, undoubtedly wanting to make its successor of it on the throne of Poland, in spite of an agreement of succession which had been concluded with Louis I {{er}} from Hungary.

With him the dynasty of the Piast dies out.

Marriages and children

He married initially the October 16th 1325 Anne of Lithuania (1310 † 1339), girl of Gédymin, large-duke of Lithuania. They had:
* Elisabeth (1333 † 1361) married about 1342 with Boguslaw V, duke of Poméranie (1318 † 1373)
* Cunégonde (1334 † 1357), married about 1345 with Louis VI, duke of Bavaria and margrave de Brandebourg (1330 † 1365)

He remaria the September 29th 1341 Adelaide de Hesse († 1371), but separated in 1356 from it He then marries in 1356 Krystyna but for little time since they are separate in 1364. Finally he marries towards 1365 Hedwige († 1390) girl of Henri III duke of Glogau and Sagan

* Anne (1366 † 1425), married in 1380 with Guillaume, count de Cilli (1361 † 1392), then with Ulrich, duke of Teak († 1432)
* Cunégonde (1367 † 1370)
* Hedwige born in 1368, died after 1407, married towards 1382
