Case of discount

The Case of Discount was created by Turgot on March 24th 1776.

Its initial mission consisted in discounting commercial drafts, to receive deposits, like making the trade of the Or and the money. It also had the monopoly of the emission of the tickets.

In practice, the Case of Discount becomes more and more an establishment with the service of the State, charged to reinflate the quite empty cases of the Treasury.

The Case was removed on August 24th 1793, and does not have to be confused with the Caisse of Discount of the Trade, which will be born in 1797.
