Cascais

Cascais is a city of the Portugal. It is located on the face of the Atlantic Ocean, with 30 kilometers in the west of the capital Lisbon.

Characteristics

It is a Portuguese coastal town, pertaining to the district of Lisbon, including/understanding 6 parishes.

From the demographic point of view, the population, in 1991, was of: 153300 inhabitants, for a surface of 97 km, and the increase in the population between 1960 and 1991 was of 157%.

The town of Cascais belongs to the metropolitan Sector of Lisbon.

Economy

The economic main activities of the city are agribusiness industry, industries of the metallurgy and the iron work, civil construction and public works, the retail business, the performance of service private and public, the local government and, especially, the linked activities with tourism, like the restoration and hotel trade, thanks to the attraction of the vast natural heritage and built city.

Fishing, primarily artisanal, is in constant fall. The city is characterized by excellence from its social equipment and its hospital unit. It also has the regional aerodrome of Remove, a casino and motor-racing track of Estoril.
