Worsen Byzantine
- Nicée becomes the capital of the Turks Seldjoukides of Asia Mineure.
- Beginning of the reign of Alexis Ier Comnène, Byzantine Emperor (fine in 1118).
- April 4th: The general Alexis Comnène, and his/her Isaac brother, representing the alliance of the land aristocracy and the military party reverses Nicéphore III Botaniatès with the favor of a mutiny of the army. Alexis Ier Comnène crown, after moults hesitations, his wife Irene Doukas and founds the dynasty Comnène.
- the excomuninaction of Nicéphore III, by the pope Gregoire VII in 1078 is extended to its successor Alexis Ier Comnène.

the Normands led by Robert Guiscard invade the Balkans (fine in 1085).
- June 17th: The Norman ones unload in Valona and are in front of Dyrrachium (Durazzo), in Dalmatie.
- Robert Guiscard is recalled in Italy by a rising fomented to the instigation of the emperor Henri IV. His/her son Bohémond de Tarente replaces it.

- October 18th: The Byzantine army of Alexis I {{er}} is overcome by the Normands, which seize Dyrrachium (Durazzo) in February 1082 that they will occupy until in 1085. Bohémond is maintained on the Albanian coast and goes until in Thessalie (1081 - 1083). The majority of its lieutenants remained in Greece will pass in the Byzantine camp, attracted by the promise of high pays.
