Situation

The door of Charenton corresponds to a space located at the south-east of the 12 {{E}} district, at the level of the intersection between the Boulevard Poniatowski, the Rue of Charenton and the Avenue of the Door of Charenton. It is located at 900 m in the south-west of the Gilded Porte and at 700 m in the North-East of the Porte of Bercy.

The door of Charenton allows an direct access with the commune of Charenton-the-Bridge.

Transport

The door of Charenton comprises only one access towards the ring road, since the Place of the Cardinal-Lavigerie (i.e., in fact, the Porte of Reuilly) and only towards the inner circular route. Reciprocally, there exists only one exit, only since the outer circular route, towards the Avenue of Gravel (with Charenton-the-Bridge, in edge of the Bois of Vincennes).

In public transport, the door of Charenton is served by the line 8 of the subway to the stop Porte of Charenton, like by the lines of bus PC2 87, and 111 (in all the cases with the named stops “Door of Charenton”). Until the end 2006, the door of Charenton was also served by the line PC1 of which it was a terminus; after the startup of the line 3 of the tram, the branch is PC1 was abandoned.

Life of the district

Bordered by the ways of the marshalling yard of Bercy in the south, the ring road and the Wood of Vincennes in the east, crossed by the trench of the Line of Small Belt, the door of Charenton is inhabited only in its north-western corner.

One finds there however:

  • the Stage Léo Lagrange
  • cemeteries of Bercy and Valmy.
