Carry from Leuwen

The Door of Leuwen (in Dutch: Leuvensepoort ) is old a carries of the second enclosure of Brussels, between the Porte of Namur and the Porte of Schaerbeek. It connected the Cathédrale Saint-Michel-and-Gudule to the extra-muros village of Saint-Jose-ten-Noode, via the street of Leuwen. This door was between the places Surlet de Chokier and current Madou.

The door was demolished in 1784.

In 1602, the duke of Aarschot Charles de Croÿ, sets up a house of pleasure to the foot of the fortifications of this door. This residence was delimited by the current avenue of Astronomy, the roadway of Leuwen and the streets of the Commune and Saint-Alphonse.
