Carry-bottles
Carry-bottles , or sometimes Bottle drier or Hedgehog , is a work of art of Marcel Duchamp carried out in Paris in 1914. This work is regarded by the artist as the first Readymade, work “already made” since it was not manufactured by the artist. Original work disappeared, but the artist carried out counterparts in the years 1960, now exposed in the museums.
Work is only made up of one galvanized iron carry-bottles (approximately 64 X 42 cm), chosen in 1914 with the Bazar of the Town hall (BHV) of Paris, “on the basis of visual indifference pure”. The artist intervening only to choose and entitle the object, this one takes the name of Carry-bottles and later Bottle drier or Hérisson .
