Carriage of listening

On a sailing ship, the carriage of listening is a part of Accastillage which contributes to the adjustment of the veils of before and of the Grand-voile.

The carriage of listening of Mainsail slide on a bar of listening placed across the Cockpit. The listening of Grand-voile is struck this carriage. The displacement of the carriage, therefore point of car of the mainsail, makes it possible to modify the balance of the boat (lodging, heat). It also makes it possible to flatten or to dig the mainsail according to the pace and wind forces it.

The carriage of listening of Jib slide on a bar of listening placed on the bridge parrallèlement with the axis of the boat. There is a carriage of listening with its bar of listening on each side of the boat. The carriage of listening is regulated so as to position in an optimal way the hollow of the veil: this adjustment is made according to the size of the veil of front, and also according to the pace and wind forces it. With close the carriage is generally moved back whereas with the bearing paces it is advanced.
