Carpet

The carpet constitute the first Floor coverings manufactured. Their origin goes back to the same time as the first Vêtement S. They are most of the time in Laine (of Mouton) and more rarely in Soie. The Cotton and the hemp are also used in particular to carry out the chain and the screen of the carpet (structure of the carpet).

The most famous carpets are those which one usually calls the “oriental carpets”. They come primarily from Iran (see on this subject the article Persian carpet) , of Turkey, the the Caucasus, China, India and the Pakistan. This enumeration is not exhaustive since one also finds of it in the Americas and that one realized some also formerly in Europe, before the Industrial revolution of the 19th century.

History

The known carpet oldest dates from fifth century BC and is originating in the Steppe S (in particular of China or Iran). One found a carpet of fifth century BC in a tomb frozen in Eastern Siberia, close to the Mongolian border .

In Occidental Asia, one manufactures carpets by tying wire of Laine to the hand as of 12th century
