Caroline Reynolds

Caroline Reynolds , played by Patricia Wettig, is a fictitious character of the television serial Prison Station-wagon .

Preamble

During the first episodes, the face of Caroline Reynolds remains hidden. She does not intervene whereas in its phone conversations with the agents Kellerman and Hale. It appears very quickly that she plays a role-key in the conspiracy which sent Lincoln Burrows in prison. Its face appears for the first time at the screen in the episode Route 66 (1x08) , where one also learns from essential information on it.

Attention: what follows reveals the intrigue

In this episode, one learns that it is not other than the Vice-présidente of the United States. If Caroline Reynolds and " the Trust " have various projects, they share the same goal - to make sure that Lincoln Burrows is carried out for the murder of Terrence Steadman. This one is not other than the brother of Caroline Reynolds.

Lincoln Burrows was recognized guilty of the crime but it will be revealed in the episode Rédemption (1x12) and will be confirmed in the episode Fugitive (1x22) the that Terrence Steadman is always in life. Lincoln Burrows was not randomly selected by the Trust. If Caroline Reynolds agreed to collaborate to prevent any attempt at Lincoln from escaping her sentence, she is unaware of the reasons of this choice. As a Vice-president of the United States, it has prerogatives which interest the Trust. They integrated it in their plot mainly for two reasons: the project of Law on the energy and the father of Lincoln Burrows. Very ambitious, Caroline Reynolds saw an occasion there to reach one day the Presidency of the the United States.

Season 1

It is the day fixed for the execution of Lincoln Burrows that Caroline Reynolds announces her candidature for the presidential election of the the United States in her birthplace of Montgomery in Illinois. Its strategy does not proceed according to its forecasts when “the Trust” threat to give up it and that the president of the the United States thinks that it is not finally suited enough for the vice-presidency. However in the last episode of the first season, it makes assassinate the president and takes his place as a forty-sixth automatically chair.

Its relation with the agent Paul Kellerman is very particular and Reynolds is more than one simple superior of Kellerman. Indeed, they know their stories and secret personnel and Kellerman regularly reassures it and guarantees to him that its plans to reach the presidency will succeed. He also addresses himself to her (only into private) by using his first name, rather than “Madam the vice-president” or “Madam the president”, who would be normally the suitable manner for a simple agent of the secret services. Moreover, the actions of Kellerman in the conspiracy not project its “attachment” with its country but in Reynolds itself. Season 2

The history continues to develop around its character. In the episode Like a rat (1x14) , confirmed by Without return (1x20) , it had promised the vice-presidency with the Gouverneur of the Illinois Frank Tancredi. But in front of its suspicions concerning mysterious deaths around Lincoln Burrows, it changes opinion at the last minute and orders its assassination. Caroline Reynolds delegated the agent Kim so that it serf of intermediary near the agent Kellerman. Some time later, when Kellerman calls the secretariat of Reynolds for him to speak, the secretary answers that no Kellerman agent is recorded on their premises. After the treason of the Kellerman agent and its escape with Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, the Kim agent uses the voice of Caroline to directly call Kellerman on its cellphone and to handle it. The " distort Caroline" he present its excuses, asks him to deliver the two brothers and promises to him that ( all will return in the order ). However, Kellerman ends up uncovering trickery.

Reynolds reappears some episodes later. At the time of her visit in Chicago, Michael slips to him into the hand a message which says: ( We have the recording ) - in reference to the Mp3 file that Lincoln and Michael recovered and who includes/understands a conversation between Reynolds and Steadman two weeks after his supposed murder. The contents of this recording, in addition to implying Reynolds in the conspiracy, strongly suggest that it and her brother was incestueux lovers. Reynolds intervenes during the interrogation of Michael per the Kim agent and request to speak with fugitive personally. After Lincoln made listen to the recording by telephone, Michael requires a presidential pardon for him and her brother. Caroline does not have an other choice to only accept.
