Caroline Aigle
The Commander Caroline Aigle (September 12th 1974 with Montauban - August 21st 2007) was in 1999 the first patented woman Fighter pilot of the French Air force.
Biography
Originating in Bergerac in the Dordogne, born with Montauban, she very young person traversed a good part of the Africa where his/her father was useful like military Médecin, before joining at 14 years the military Lycée of Saint-Cyr military school where she remains until in class of final. She carries out then her preparation at the Universities with the military national Prytanée of the Arrow (higher Mathématiques and special Mathématiques - Me) before being allowed in 1994 at the same time with ENSIETA, the National university (street of Ulm) and with the Polytechnic school (called X) (promotion X1994) which she decides to integrate. The pupils of X being useful under military statute, it carries out its Military service obligatory (1994 - 1995) with the 13th battalion of Alpine hunters. During its studies with X, it decides to be useful in the Air force. In September 1997, it thus integrates this one and begins its formation with piloting by rejoining the " division of the vols" who corresponds to 3rd and last year of the Flying school.The May 28th 1999, it becomes the first patented Frenchwoman Fighter pilot, and receives his “macaroon” of the hands of the air general Jean Rannou, Chief of staff of the air force.
It is affected on Mirage 2000-5 with the Escadron of hunting 2/2 Coast-in Or with BA102 of Dijon in 2000, then becomes Commander of flotilla starting from 2005.
In September 2006 it is assigned to the “Safety of the flights” of the Command of the air forces of the BA 128 of Metz.
Caroline Aigle was also sporting achieved, military champion of France of Triathlon 1997, military world champion of triathlon by team 1997 and vice-champion of the military world of triathlon by team 1999. She also practiced another of her passions, the Freefall, the Parachutisme generally.
She was about to be selected as astronaut of the European space agency.
She dies the 32 year old on August 21st, 2007 of a Cancer striking down (Mélanome) detected a few months before her disappearance. She added up close to: 1600 hours of vol. She was married and mother of two children, of which Gabriel. She learned her disease whereas she was pregnant. Against the opinion of the doctors who advised to him not to keep the child to preserve his health as well as possible, it left a very beautiful testimony of love while choosing with her husband to also fight for him. Gabriel was thus born by Cesarean at five months and half, Caroline died a few days later. She was decorated with the Medal of Aeronautics on a purely posthumous basis by the President of the Republic on October 2nd, 2007
