Carol Shields , born Carol Ann Warner the June 2nd 1935 with Oak Park (Illinois), dead the July 16th 2003, is a Canadian novelist of orgine American.

Its life

Born in Oak Park (Illinois) on June 2nd, 1935, Carol Warner attends the Hanover College in Indiana, where it obtains a baccalaureat are arts in 1957. The same year, she marries a Canadian civil engineer, Donald Shields, whom she had met at the time of a training course of studies in England, and comes to be established in Canada. During years which follow, Carol Shields gave rise to five children. Towards the end of the score, it starts to write poems and, according to the councils of its professors to the Université of Ottawa, it publishes Others (1972) and Intersect (1974). Meanwhile, it is registered with the programme of control of the university and writes a thesis on Susanna Moodie entitled Susanna Moodie: Voice and Vision (1976).

She studied with the Université of Manitoba.
