History

The Carnot College of Tunis is the heir to a fight of influence between the Italian schools and the French schools but also between the religious congregations and the republican institutions.

In 1845, the Abbot Village, chaplain of the Cathedral Saint-Louis de Carthage, created the first French college, the College Saint-Louis , located in the Médina of Tunis. After thirteen years of existence, the college closes its doors. In 1875, the cardinal Lavigerie decides to inaugurate with Carthage a college bearing the same name as the precedent
