Carnedd Llywelyn
Carnedd Llywelyn (sometimes Carnedd Llewelyn : “Cairn de Llywelyn”) is the highest mountain of the chain Carneddau in the mountains of Eryri (the Snowdonia), Wales of north. With 1.064m, Carnedd Llywelyn is the top highest of Wales, except mount Snowdon ( Yr Wyddfa ). Its top was on the current border between Gwynedd and Conwy.
The majesteuse mountain was named in honor of one of the two medieval princes who bear the name Llywelyn, but one does not know if it is of Llywelyn Large the (1173-1240) or about its grandson Llywelyn ap Gruffudd (c.1225-1282), the last Prince de Galles Welsh (except for Owain Glyndŵr in 1404). Carnedd Llywelyn is related to the top of Carnedd Dafydd, another mountain named in honor of a prince of the Royaume of Gwynedd, by an edge.
