Carmen McRae
Carmen McRae was a singer of Jazz American born on April 8th, 1920 and deceased on November 10th, 1994, at the 74 years age. She is regarded as one of the vocalists of most influential Jazz of the 20th century. Its phrased with hitch and its ironic interpretations of the words of songs made of it a memorable interpreter.
Carmen McRae is born on April 8th, 1920 with Harlem (New York), of an Indian mother and a father originating in Costa Rica. She learns the piano as of her childhood. Teenager, it draws the attention of Teddy Wilson and his wife, the compositrice Irene Kitchings Wilson.
At the end of the Years 1940, it is made a name near the musicians of modern jazz which gathers with the Milton' S Playhouse, the most famous club of jazz of Harlem, where it comes to play of the piano. With Brooklyn, it is pointed out by Milt Gabler, producer for the label Decca. Its 5 years of association with Decca will give rise to 12 recordings.
The Carmen McRae-Betty Casing Duets , the recording in its concert of 1987 in duet with Betty Casing mark spirits. Among the musicians with whom she collaborated throughout her career, one can quote: Benny Casing, Mercer Ellington, Count Basie, Sammy Davis Jr., Dave Brubeck and Louis Armstrong. Because of its friendship with the singer Billie Holiday, it never occurred only once in concert without interpreting a song of that which one calls Lady Day .
