Carlos Gamarra

Carlos Gamarra known as " El Colorado" (born the February 17th 1971 in Ypacaraí, Paraguay) is a player of Paraguayan Football. This defender played 110 times for the team of Paraguay, marking 12 goals. He holds the record of selections besides. He took his retirement at the conclusion of a friendly match disputed the October 7th 2006 against the Australia.

Its career starts in 1991, where he played for Cerro Porteño in Asunción, with which he gains the national championship in 1992. He then played for CA Independiente in Argentine for the season 1992-1993, before returning quickly in Cerro Porteño until in 1995. The March 27th 1993, it is selected for the first time in team of Paraguay against the Bolivia. In 1995, it leaves Cerro Porteño for SC Internacional in Brésil. He plays the season 1997-1998 for SSL Benfica with the Portugal, before returning to Brazil with SC Corinthians. He is elected Paraguayan player of the year twice, in 1997 and 1998. At the end of the season 1999 Gamarra is recruited by the Atlético of Madrid in Liga Spanish, but its team is relegated, therefore it goes back to Brazil with CR Flamengo. At the time of the season 2001-2002, Gamarra played for AEK Athens, gaining the Coupe of Greece. After having shone with the World cup 2002, it is bought by the Inter Milan in the Série has for the season 2002-03. It will take part only in 14 meetings, its team finishing in 2nd place with the classification. After three seasons with Inter, where it is confined with a role of substitute, it leaves in 2005 for SE Palmeiras, its current team. He was the captain of the Paraguayan team at the time of the World cup 2006.
