Carlos Chávez

Carlos Antonio de Padua Chávez there Ramírez , known as Carlos Chávez (born the June 13rd 1899 with Popotla close to Mexico City - died the August 2nd 1978 in Mexico City), was a Mexican type-setter .

Less revolutionary, more institutional than his six month old junior Woodland Revueltas, Carlos Chávez was the most influential type-setter of his country. Orchestrator except par (his six Symphonie S are models of the genre) it cultivated a refined and traditional language. He wrote nearly two hundred opus, of which number of Ballet S and a operas. On the level of his musical language, one can bring it closer to Arthur Honegger, even (by also taking account of its action of regent of the musical life - conservatory creator of S, originator of festivals, chapeautor of price…), of Marcel Landowski.
