Carloman Ier

Carloman {{Ier}} (v. 751 - December 4th 771 with Samoussy, Aisne), King of the Francs of 768 with 771.

Biography

He is the son of Pépin III '' says the Brief '' and of Berthe de Laon '' said to the Large Foot ''.

He dies on December 4th, 771 in his palate of Samoussy, and was buried in the abbey church of Saint-Remi of Rheims. From June 771, seeing its death coming, it had yielded several of its fields in exchange of its burial.

With died of Carloman 1st, Charlemagne évinça its two young nephews by taking possession of the kingdom of his/her brother to the contempt of all their rights. Its widow Gerberge took refuge with her children near Didier king of Lombards.
