Carlo Vittadini
Carlo Vittadini is a Médecin and a Italian mycologist , born the June 11th 1800 with Bertonico, small hamlet of the commune of Monticelli, and dead the November 20th 1865 with Milan.
It makes its studies in Milan and the university of Pavia where it follows the courses of Giuseppe L. Moretti (1782-1853). It obtains its title of doctor of medicine in 1826 with a thesis entitled Tentamen mycologicum seu Amanitarum it where it describes 14 species of Amanite S.
In addition to some publications on the diseases of the worms to silk, this doctor specialized in Obstétrique exerting in Milan is the author of several important works on mushrooms:
- Monographia tuberacearum (Rusconi, Milan, 1831) where Vittadini describes 65 S including 51 news.
- Descrizione dei funghi mangerecci più comuni dell' Italia E de' velenosi che possono co' medesimi confondersi (1835) where it describes 56 species including 15 news.
- Monographia Lycoperdineorum (1842) which supplements the work of 1831 and where it describes 50 species including 23 news.
- Trattato sui funghi mangerecci più conosciuti E paragoni idiot quelli velenosi idiot cui possono essere confusi (1844), written at the request of the anxious Italian government of the number of poisonings due to mushrooms.
