Carlo Rainaldi
Carlo Rainaldi (May 4th 1611 - February 8th 1691) was an Italian architect of the period Baroque.
Born with Rome, Rainaldi was one of the most important architects of Rome of the 17th century, known for a certain size in its plans. He worked initially with his father, Girolamo Rainaldi, which brought the style ManiƩriste to Rome. After the death of his father, he embraced the style monumental baroque completely. He gained ascent in Rome when the papacy of Urbain VIII left the room to that of most austere the Innocent X. Among its works appear the frontage of Sant' Andrea della Valle (1661-1665), the twin churches of Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Sant' Andrea della Valle, and Santa Maria in Campitelli (1663-1667), regarded as its best work. It was unable to finish the frontage of Sant' Agnese in Agonic line in work in 1653-1657.
Rainaldi died in Rome.
