Carlo Giuliani

Carlo Giuliani (Rome, 1978 - Genoa, July 20th 2001), resulted student and activist Anarchiste Italy N, from a politicized family (his/her father is trade union leader). He was killed on July 20th 2001 during the riots anti G8 of Genoa. Giuliani was killed by ball in a confrontation where the Italian gendarmes ( Carabinieri ) sprinkled since a jeep of Teargas the demonstrators who launched stones to them.
Carlo Giulani had caught an extinguisher and was on the point of launching it on the jeep. It accepted a discharge of balls to the face whereas it charged the vehicle, the masked face by a hood. As the jeep operated to move away, the aft wheel passed twice on the body of the young man.
Inquire and continuation
All the loads against the police officer who made fire (Mario Placanica, 24 years) were abandoned, the board of inquiry having concluded that the fatal ball having touched Giuliani had been deviated with semi-race by a stone.This conclusion was quickly put aside. A more serious investigation was continued by Heidi and Giuliano Giuliani, parents of the young man deceased. It was proven that the gun of the Placanica police officer was not pointed at all towards the sky as this last wanted to make it believe. On the photographs taken this day there one sees well that the weapon was pointed on crowd before Carlo collects the extinguisher. A photograph was taken one second before the police officer does not draw and one sees there Carlo Giuliani in foreground holding up his extinguisher and the gun of the police officer pointed directly on the head of the young man; amongst other things Carlo Giuliani was not with a few centimetres of the jeep as the carabinieri wanted to make it believe but well with more than 3 meters of distance and it was certified that even if it were stuck to the back of the jeep that did not represent to in no case a danger to the passengers of the armoured tank. The doctors who arrived on the spot to deal with Carlo testified that it was still in life before the jeep (which was to be probably paralyzed by a dustbin and which was thus “captive” according to testimony of the driver) does not roll twice on the body of Carlo Giuliani.
Certain elements remain obscure, Mario Placanica having declared that it had been used “to cover the responsibility for the others”, without being explained more. The family and the close relations of Giuliani always ask that justice be made but for the moment no police officer present this day there gave an explanation.
Memory
The place where it was killed, the place Piazza Alimonda , was in a famous nonofficial way piazza Carlo Giulani by the demonstrators who also set up a memorial. The memorial has had for summer flaring twice by unknown vandals. Another place with Bern, (Swiss) was also named Carlo-Giuliani Platz . The name change was made during a exposure-memorial of art named the geometries of the memory A committee piazza Carlo Giuliani was also created, to inform on the facts of July 2001, to reaffirm the right to express its ideas and to express, and also to support initiatives of international solidarity.
