Carladès
The Carladès or Carladez (in Occitan Carladés ) is an old seigniory located at horse on High-Auvergne now department of the Cantal and Rouergue, now Département of Aveyron.
One finds there the towns of Vic-on-Cère, Wall-of-Bar, Thiézac and well-sure Carlat which gave him its name.
History
In 1356 the Viscount of Carlat Renaud IV and its son die in the Bataille of Crécy, Renaud VI thus becomes Vassal of the king of England Edouard III. A few years later the Treated of Brétigny having been denounced, Renaud will be joined king de France and the area will be in war during more than thirty years, the villages will be plundered and incendiés.Once returned peace, it will be in such a state of poverty, which it will be exempted of a certain number of impôts.
The Wars of religion between catholics and Protestants were very violent in the area. The Queen Margot, first wife of Henri de Navarre the future Henri IV, taken the party of the catholics and took refuge with the fortress of Carlat in 1585, it defied the royal authority there. In 1603 Henri IV made completely shave the castle of which there do not remain rien.
In 1643 Louis XIII yielded Carladès with other territories located in the south of France, with the prince Honore II of Monaco to compensate it for the loss of its seigniories in Spain. No family member princely came in Carladès, even if with Vic-on-Cère there exists a " house of princes de Monaco". Current prince de Monaco, Albert II, carries among his many titles that of count de Carladès.
