Carl Adolph von Basedow (* March 28th 1799 with Dessau; † April 11th 1854 with Mersebourg), was a German Médecin.
Biography
After secondary studies in its birthplace, he studied medicine with the Université of Market. In 1821 it obtains its rank at Johann Friedrich Meckel for a novel method of Amputation . In 1821-1822, it is internal with Paris.

In 1842, Basedow is named with the " Königlichen Sanitätsrat" (royal medical council), in 1848, he becomes official doctor of Kreis de Merseburg.
He had strongly invested himself in the fields of hygiene and the preventive saniitaires measures, for example, the prohibition of the " Schweinfurter Grün" , a product rich in arsenic. It developed a seat of declaration of the diseases, founded analyzes of the drinking water etc..
In 1840, he was the first German to describe the Maladie of Basedow, a hyperfonction of the Thyroïde.
Carl von Basedow died of a septicémie.
In Merseburg, the Carl-von-Basedow-Klinikum currently bears his name. It is an university hospital of the Martin-Luther-Universität Market-Wittenberg.
