Carl Stål

Carl Stål is a Entomologiste Swedish, born the March 21st 1833 with Château of Karlberg and dead the June 13rd 1878 with Trösundavik close to Stockholm.

It is registered with the Université of Uppsala in 1853 where it studies the Médecine. It supplements its studies at the university of Iéna where it obtains its doctorate in 1859. He becomes then the assistant Karl Henrik Boheman (1796-1868) with the natural history museum of Natural history of Sweden. In 1867, it becomes preserving with the title of professor.

He travels to Sweden and through the Europe and studies in particular the collection of Johan Christian Fabricius (1745-1808) with Kiel. World authority as regards Hémiptère, it is also interested in the Orthoptère S, the Coléoptère S and the Hyménoptère S.

Stål is in particular the author of Hemiptera Africana (1864 - 1864), Hemiptera Fabriciana (1868 - 1869), Enumeratio Hemipterorum (of 1870 with 1876), Recensio Orthopterorum (three volumes, of 1873 with 1876), orthopterologic Observations (of 1875 with 1878). He studies in particular the insects brought back by Swedish forwarding on board the Eugenie , in particular in California. Its collections are preserved at the Natural history museum of Stockholm.
