Carl Skottsberg

Carl Johan Fredrik Skottsberg is a Botaniste and an exploring of the the Antarctic Swedish, born on February 1st 1880 with Karlshamn and died in 1963.

He studies with the Université of Uppsala starting from 1898 and obtains his doctorate in 1907. He becomes then Privatdozent . He takes part in a Swedish forwarding in the Antarctic of 1901 with 1903 then directs Swedish forwarding in Patagonie of 1907 to 1909.

He is preserving Botanical garden of the university of Uppsala of 1909 with 1914 then share in the new botanical garden of Gothenburg starting from 1915. He becomes professor and director of the garden in 1919.

Skottsberg becomes member of the royal Académie of sciences of Sweden and several others learned societies. He is elected with the Royal Society in 1950. He receives the Médaille linnéenne (1959) and the medal of money Darwin-Wallace (1958) allotted by the Société linnéenne of London.
