Caribert II

Caribert II (born in 606/610 - died in 632), king d' Aquitaine starting from 629. He is the son of Clotaire II, king of Neustrie and Austrasie and of Bertrude.

Biography

He is the half-brother of Dagobert Ier. He becomes king d' Aquitaine in 629 with a kingdom, conceded by Dagobert Ier after a difficult beginning, which includes/understands several counties located between Toulouse and Bordeaux and threatened by the incursions of the Basques or " Vascons ". He has Toulouse like capital.

He is the father of Childéric, probably eliminated by Dagobert Ist It was affirmed a long time that Childéric had survived and that he was with the ancestor of the Princes d' Aquitaine of the family of Eudes while basing himself on the false charter of Alaon (a forgery of the 17th century). This assertion would not be credible and the family of Eudes, prince d' Aquitaine, is not downward of Mérovingiens as the names employed by the members of the dynasty seem to show it.
