CargoSprinter
CargoSprinter indicates a particular type of railway oar German motorized intended for the transport of Conteneur S.
Realized at the request of the railway company dB, this oar consists of 5 flat wagons container ships whose two extremes are motorized diesel and provided with a driving cabin. The unit is provided with couplers and is couplable in two units.
Arguments pleading in favor of this solution:
- great flexibility of implementation:
- diesel and length reduced to easily reach all the particular junctions,
- thorough automation (tests of brakes for example)
- coupler
- economy exploitative:
- diesel low fuel consumption
- only one supervisor
The startup took place in 1996. Maximum speed was of 120 km/h for a capacity of 10 containers of 20 feet; its use remained for the moment purely German.
