Careers of Saint-Maximin
The careers of Saint-Maximin are located in the commune of Saint-Maximin, in the department of Oise.
History
It is at the origin of the careers exploited with blank of slopes then underground, in activity since at least XIVe century. In 1855, a trench built for the railroad made it possible to update hard stone benches. The exploitation with open sky started at that time.
Rock
The stone of Saint-Maximin is a Calcaire white or yellowish, with fine grain, average or coarse. The rock is there of four different nature: very hard hard limestone, hard stone, firm rock and half-firm rock.
