Career of Gombe

The career of Gombe is an old sandstone exploitation, currently used for the drive with the Plongée underwater. It is located on the territory of the commune of Esneux, with a score of kilometers in the south of Liege, in Belgium.

History

The career of Gombe had been exploited for the extraction of Freestone, sandstone of construction.

The Center Subaqueous Inhabitants of Li2ege of Activities (C.L.A.S), currently more important club of diving of Belgium, decided to exploit it for the training of its members once transformed this small lake into a water level of more than 30 meters of depth.

The center of diving was inaugurated the February 22nd 1977. It is currently certified 5 stars.

Accessibility

The center is open the weekend, morning and afternoon for the members of the club. Outsides can reach the afternoons it.

Being given its localization, the site is of course attended by many Belgian, French-speaking and Dutch-speaking plungers, but also Dutch and German, the borders of these two countries being distant only of one about fifty kilometers.

The C.L.A.S. in addition has an important drawn up section with Maastricht.
