Career Opportunities

Career Opportunities is a song of the group The Clash, recorded in March 1977 for their first album, The Clash.

Direction

The song is a lampoon against the political situation and economic in England of the time, quoting the lack of job offers, particularly for youth, and the monotony and the little of attraction of those which are proposed to them. Specifically, the text attacks the service in the army and police force, addition to the jobs which are often perceived as being ungrateful such as driver of bus or controller of the tickets, as well as to make the with the BBC ().

The line is a reference to an old work exerted by the Guitariste Mick Jones, which opened letters for a department of the British government in order to make sure that they were not piégeés.
