Carbon tetrachloride
The carbon tetrachloride is a chemical Composé chlorinated having the empirical formula: CCl4, also called tetrachloromethane .
With pressure and room temperature, it is a colorless liquid, very volatile whose vapors are harmful for the living beings and dangerous for the Couche of ozone.
In Organic chemistry, the carbon tetrachloride is often employed as a Solvant, even if its use tends to decrease because of its strong toxicity. It is thus often replaced by the Chloroforme or the Dichlorométhane.
In the European Union, taking into account measurements to protect the layer from ozone, the production and the importation are prohibited since 1995.
