Caravanserai
A caravanserai (" palate of caravanes" in Turkish O Persan) is a place, in the East, where the Caravane S make halt.
A caravanserai is a building which accommodates the merchants and the pilgrims along the roads and in the cities. According to the places, the name changes: in the world Iran IEN rather, it will be called khan whereas with the the Maghreb, it is the word Funduq which is most usually employed. One could compare the caravanserai with a Relais of station in Europe or a ryokan with the Japan.
A caravanserai is always strengthened, and comprises at the same time stables (or enclosures) for mountings and the beasts of burden, stores for the goods and rooms for people of passage. It is frequent that the stores are with the ground floor and the rooms on the first floor.
It is also a place of exchange attended by many foreigners.
