Carandiru (film)
Carandiru is a Brazilian and Argentinian film of Héctor Babenco, adapted best-seller of Drauzio Varella entitled Carandiru Station , itself inspired by actual facts.
Synopsis
The prison of Carandiru, with São Paulo, is largest of Latin America. It is in this place that a famous doctor decides to carry out a prevention program against the Sida. At this point in time it starts to discover little by little the true personality of the prisoners, in particular their humanity and their thirst for living. He manages to gain their respect and their friendship. It is through the glance of this doctor that one observes the true social drama of the Brésil which led to the atrocious massacre of Carandiru.
