Caraman
Caraman (occitan: Caraman ) is a common French located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.
Its inhabitants is called Caramanais.
Origin of the name Caraman
Cara means the face or the face while man means hand. The face and the hand are present on the Blason of Caraman.

Camaran is located at 28 km in the South-east of Toulouse on the River of the Saune and the Seillone
History
Ten villas attest the presence of the Romains on the territory at the 1st front century J. - C. In 1005, the lords Donat de Caraman control a teritoire extending to the walls from Toulouse. This richness is due to the tolls exerted on the road of salt connecting Béziers to Toulouse. Saint-Dominique comes to preach in Caraman in 1206 where the heresy cathare is installed. Raymond VII of Toulouse buys in 1246 a half of the castle and supports the heresy. Viconté set up in told in 1483, it is of 1460 with 1562 that Caraman knows the old one of gold of the Pastel which makes the fortune of the Lauragais. The city becomes capital land of plenty (name coming from the balls of sheets of pastel dried for transport). In 1568, undergoing the wars of religion, Caraman is set fire to by reformed then destroyed by Henri de Navarre in 1579. Begun again by the troops of Louis XIII in 1622, the county is sold in 1670 to the creator of the Canal of the South, Pierre-Paul Riquet. In 1799, the repression of a royalist insurrection devastates the area again.

Presence Gallo-Roman E. Seigniory mentioned as of 1005: Viscount, set up in county with 15th. Saint-Bernard preached in 1147 there. Saint Dominique disputed there in 1206 with chiefs Cathares protected by the Seigneur. Chief town of bailie, left the royal field since 1271. burnt Church in 1568 by the Protestant which took the city in 1570 and preserved it until in 1622. Its Temple was destroyed in 1682 on order of Louis XIV.
