Paul Karali , known as Carali , is a Dessinateur of Cartoon born the December 30th 1945 with Héliopolis (Egypt) relatively ignored general public but very important in the world of the cartoon for her Humor and its Philosophie, like for its activity of editor.
Brief biography
He emigrates at 15 years with the Lebanon where he meets Gudule (Anne Duguël, known as) which becomes his/her partner. It arrives at Paris in 1970. It makes plays for Pif gadget then draws for various newspapers (Hara-Kiri, Pilote, the Echo of savannas, monthly Charlie, Icy Fluide, Charlie Hebdo).It founds small Psikopat in 1982 which becomes Psikopat later, as the editions of the Zebu in 1989 which publish the Psikopat and the albums of the authors of the newspaper.
Of 1984 with 1986 it also draws in the magazine of data processing Hebdogiciel (then in Micro News). He also collaborated in the newspaper the international Idiot , satiric weekly founded by Jean-Paul Sartre, under the direction of Jean-Edern Hallier.
In 1999 it founds the musical group Copains like pigs with Lerouge.
It is it (small) brother of Edouard Karali, known as Édika , and the father of Olivier Carali alias Olivier Ka and of Melanie Carali alias Melaka. Its third child, Frederic, hold a shop devoted to the cinema and with band-drawn ( the Band of the movies , Paris 18th).
Its work
Amateur of absurd humor ( Doctor Tutut , for example), it seizes without complexes the sets of themes “ adultes ” and its work is connected with American the undergrounds authors such as Robert Crumb and Gilbert Shelton (two authors of which it will become one of the French editors). Later, it is interested in the account, with the tales of a storyteller and even with the autobiography ( Mr Paulot ). Its drawings, in black and white, are essentially carried out with the Indian ink.
