Caragoudes

Caragoudes is a common French located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Its inhabitants is called Caragoudais.

  • Gabriel Lespinasse de Saulne

The commander of vessel Gabriel Lespinasse de Saulne was born in July 1846 with Toulouse.

This man sailed during 43 years on all the seas of the sphere. In particular in the Far East as on the seas Arctic S where one began the scientific installations in these polar regions.

It ordered the Sailor-hat , the Vulton , the Isere and the Petithours . Officer extremely with dimensions of shares his states of services, the French government had entrusted to him in 1885 the honorary mission to carry to the American people the Statue of freedom between Rouen and New York on board Isere . He preserved a long time a miniature reproduction of the statue which was offered to him during the inauguration.

Its finished career, it was elected on May 19th 1912 mayor of the small village of Caragoudes in Haute-Garonne. A photograph of the statue is present at the town hall in testimony of these events.

It rests with the Cimetière Sayrac (Haute-Garonne)
