Cara Ancha
Jose Sánchez del Campo known as “Cara Ancha” , born with Algeciras (Spain, Province of Cadiz) the May 8th 1848, died in 1925 with Aznalcázar (Spain, Province of Seville), was a Spanish Matador.
Dates
- 1865 : Seriously wounded with Sanlúcar Mayor (Spain, province of Seville).
- 1867 to 1869: Fact part of the Cuadrilla of “Gordito” in the capacity as Banderillero.
- 1874: Fact part of the cuadrilla of “Bocanegra” in the capacity as banderillero; take part as matador in various bullfights in Madrid.
- Alternate the September 24th 1874 with Seville. Godfather: Manual Domínguez. Witness: “Bocanegra”. Bulls of the Ganadería of Gift Jose Antonio Adalid.
- Confirmation of alternative to Madrid the May 23rd 1875. Godfather: “Lagartijo”. Witness: “Currito”. Bulls of the ganaderías of the Duke of Veragua, Saltillo and Gift Antonio Miura.
- 1876 and 1877: matador at the time of various bullfights in Madrid.
- 1878 to 1880: Do not seem to have taken part in any bullfight.
- 1881: Most glorious of the maestro , it gains many triumphs, in particular on September 25th in Madrid, vis-a-vis bulls of Saltillo and of the priest Morena.
- 1882 to 1884: Various successes, in particular in Seville and Madrid; some light wounds.
- 1894: Last season of “Cara Ancha”, which takes part in bullfights with Barcelona, Saragossa, Madrid and Seville. It is slightly wounded in Madrid on April 29th.
