Capoeira Angola
The Capoeira Angola , so known under the name of streaked dance or golo or gola , is a dance of combat used in Angola by the people Bantu and Mucupis. Two men clashed to gain the right to marry an young girl in age to marry. Streaked dance (dance zebra) was used to determine which was bravest, therefore that which could best deal with the woman and who thus deserved more the marriage. To gain, it was necessary to make fall the adversary while making use of the hands and the feet.
Streaked dance was transported to Brazil with the arrival of the black slaves of Africa, and Angola, more particularly following Portuguese colonization and evolved/moved to become the Capoeira.
Joaquim Vicente Ferreira Pastinhas (1889-1982), better known under the name of Mestre Pastinha gives to the honor this discipline closer to the origins of this Sport of combat.
