Capesize
The Navire S of size Capesize are the too large ships to pass by the Suez Canal or the Canal of Panamá, therefore exceeding the sizes Panamax and Suezmax . They must borrow the Cape of Good Hope to sail round Africa and the Cape Horn to sail round America.
Being given the limits of the two channels in question, the size Capesize corresponds to a Tirant of water higher than 17,07 m, a Tirant of air higher than 68 m, or a width of 70,1 m; these limits correspond to Suez Canal, where the absence of lock S constrained minus the maximum sizes that on the channel of Panamá. The typical displacement of such a ship is higher than 150 000 tons.
Concretely, the term Capesize is rather employed for largest Vraquier S, because for the Pétrolier S there exist the standard sizes ULCC and VLCC for a finer cutting.
