Capes (New Brunswick)
The area of the Capes is located in the Canadian province New Brunswick. It extends on forty kilometers the east Bathurst (Salmon Beach) until Handle-Blue Large-Handle and , where it overlaps the acadian Péninsule.
Description
The area is bordered in north by the Baie of Heats and draws its name from its Falaise S, sometimes very high. With Handle-Blue, there are rather a rock beach and plates. The relief is rather regular, with share with the western extremity and does not exceed the 60 meters of altitude. It is a rural region and agricultural. The Champ S go in general from one to two kilometers in the grounds, the remainder being composed of Forêt S, of Marais and of Tourbière S. There is at least a colony of birds. There are no important sources of Minerai, but one finds nodules of manganese to Handle-Blue and the rock of Stonehaven (formerly called Cape-with-Grinding stones) was extracted to make of them Meule S. the area is inhabited little, not counting more than 3500 inhabitants. The only important rivers are the Rivière of North, the Rivière Pokeshaw and the Petite River Pokeshaw. The road 11 and the road 135 serve the area.
Villages
The communities being in the area are, of west in is, Salmon Beach, Janeville, Clifton, Stonehaven, New Bandon, Pokeshaw, Large-Handle and Handle-Blue. By extension, one can include the communities being in the back country: Blackville, Canobie, Dugas, Rocheville, Saint-Léolin and Springfield Settlement. All these communities are included in the parishes of New Bandon and Bathurst.
