History
The name of Capelle comes from a vault dedicated to Sainte Grimonie.One can see in edge of the road of Avesnes-on-Helpe a Roman road limestone terminal and of cylindrical form.
Vauban built a citadel to be denied Espagnols.Une half-moon is part of the fortifications: place current half-moon.
Important historic site, the " Villa PASQUE ": It is in this place that was held the meeting between plenipotentiary German and French before the signature of the Armistice in 1918.
