Cape de Creus
The course of Creus is the Eastern end of the Iberian peninsula. It is in the north of the gulf of Roses, in the Comarque of the Alt Empordà, itself in the province of Girona, in Catalogne.
It is an abrupt and rock headland, of 672 m altitude, which advances on the Mediterranean, forming small a Péninsule of mountainous nature, cut Ci from there by many and small Calanques. From a geological point of view, it belongs to the buttresses of the the Eastern Pyrenees, which are inserted here in the sea. Its grounds are of granitic nature and laminar structure of the Ordovicien (Paléozoïque).
He is worked by the waves, which had mainly with the Tramontane, wind of north/north-western, and with the east winds. In these places, one records precipitations among 500 and 800 mm per annum; it is thus about a wet Climat Mediterranean, characterized by soft temperatures and moderate precipitations.
The Cape of Creus presents a dominant vegetation of Garrigue and small shrubs.
It has moreover a headlight at its Eastern end, that is with more than 87 m of altitude, and whose light can be perceived up to 34 miles.
