Cape Lopez

The Cape Lopez is located at the point of the island Mandji, in the delta of the Ogooué, with the Gabon. Being inserted in the Atlantic Ocean, it is the most Western point of the Gabonese coast and the southernmost limit of the Golfe of Guinea. Discovered by a Portuguese sailor who gave him his name about 1480, place of trade of the slaves with XVIIIè and XIXè centuries, the Cape Lopez is located in the province of the Ogooué-Maritime . The town of Port-Gentil is a few kilometres from there.
