Cape Girão
The Cape Girão (in Portuguese: Cabo Girão, Cape of the Return ) is a cliff on the southern part of the island of Madeira, located near Câmara de Lobos. Its height is indicated between 560 and 589 m, which does of them one highest of Europe and the world (highest, probably the Preikestolen in Norway, measurement 597 m).
There is terrace cultivation with semi height like in bottom of cliff. Formerly, these last were accessible only by boat. Since August 2003, a small cable car was installed with an aim, intialement, of facilitating the access to the farmers.
For the tourists, the course Girão constitutes an exceptional view-point as well as a starting point for parapente.
